If the trio of Kevin Brown, Mike Witt and Nolan Ryan win 50 or more games, Texas will be in the thick of things. If not, they could wind up fighting California and Minnesota for cellar-rights. 6. California - The Angels are quickly becoming a retirement home for old ball players. If they are to have any success in 1991, ancients Lance Parrish (35- years-old), Dave Winfleld (39), Gary Gaetti (33) and Bert Blyleven (40) must perform up to their old standards. ■ The pitching is solid with Chuck Finley (18-9, 2.40), Kirk McCaskill (12-11, 375) and Bryan Harvey (3.22, 25 saves) leading the bunch. 7. Minnesota - The Twins have been sliding since their World Series championship in 1987. Don't count on them to improve on their last-place finish of a yearago. Kirby Puckett remains steady (298 avg, 80 RBI) but more is needed because the rest of the players can't cany the load.
