CFA: Walkout

ment from the Chicano-Latino
Faculty Association of CSU,
Fresno, "this union has ignored
the issues of racism, equity and
affirmative action."
Before Wednesday's CFA
meeting, a group of Latino faculty
met with Wayne Dominick, pro¬
fessor of engineering a nd the presi -
dent of the CFA — CSUF chapter,
and Don Nielson, the regional
service coordinator for CFA.
Flores was confident that thc
union might work for Latino
demands in the future.
"We want to resolve this from
the inside," Flores said, "lt makes
more sense to be inside than out¬
side.
"We are people who are very
committed to unionism and un¬
ions. The union has a lot of power,
and it makes a lot of sense for them
to get behind us."
Dominick said he was "sad
and disappointed" about the with¬
drawal of the members from the
association, but said he wanted to
see the members remain in the
union.
"I asked them not to resign. I
asked them to stay and resolve
any problems they have with the
union," he said. Daminick refused
any further comment.
Hores said that there are about
600 members of CFA at CSUF, but
only 100 are active.

finish as high as third
depending upon their pitching. If
the trio of Kevin Brown, Mike

more games, Texas will be in the
thick of things. If not, they could
wind up fighting California and
Minnesota for cellar-rights.
6. California - The Angels are
quickly becoming a retirement
home for old ball players. If
they are to have any success in
1991, ancients Lance Parrish (35-
years-old), Dave Winfleld (39),
Gary Gaetti (33) and Bert
Blyleven (40) must perform up to
their old standards.
■ The pitching is solid with
Chuck Finley (18-9, 2.40), Kirk
McCaskill (12-11, 375) and
Bryan Harvey (3.22, 25 saves)
leading the bunch.
7. Minnesota - The Twins have
been sliding since their World
Series championship in 1987.
Don't count on them to improve
on their last-place finish of a
yearago.
Kirby Puckett remains steady
(298 avg, 80 RBI) but more is
needed because the rest of the
players can't cany the load.
Kent Hrbeck's waistline appears
to carrying something, although
he hit 22 homers last year. Chili
Davis will help, but he isn't
someone who can carry a team.
