The Golden State Warriors' Tim Hardaway has a similar one, but there's a difference between the two. "He (Hardaway) goes be¬ tween the legs with his dribble, and I give my defender a stutter- step move," said Young, mod¬ estly. "But my move is quicker. Tim's my idol, and he's helped me a lot with my game." * According to the Bulldogs soon-to-be superstar, all the crossover dribbles and moves to the hoojwnean nothing if the team doesn't play well together. "We're a very talented team, but we have to gel together to become a championship-caliber squad," Young continued. "And if things aren't going well, I'll pat them on the back and take the load off their shoulders as much as possible. We have to keep our fists tight, so no one points a finger at anyone else. I'll shoulder the load in any way I can." With the first exhibition game just days away, Young's Bull¬ dog career is about to begin. Expectations are high for the team, which has got to be the most talked-^bout basketball squad that hasn't even played yet in Bulldog history. The same goes for Young. , "He has the possibility to break a lot of records here," said Fisher. "When he's done, Dominick could be the best point guard to ever play for Fresno State." "I always think I'm un-stop- pable on the floor," Young said. "When I adapted that mental¬ ity, I knew no one could stop me but myself." Only time will tell if the Bull¬ dog record books need to be taken off tfje shelves to place Young's name among the school's best But don't be surprised if that does indeed happen. Fora<^oser.snxx)therstvve.it!ijust(nthenKkoft)me C ' TfMTITMl - (• ■ Records fall in Doj victory over Hornets By Chad Holcomb If you were to walk across the battle field (the Hornet Gymnasium up at CS Sacra¬ mento) today, you might be able to find a large amount of, indentations between the lines* of the volleyball court. You wouldn't be surprised of the sign hanging outside the gym reading "Gym Under Re¬ pairs." The only explanation; the fact that the Fresno State Bull¬ dog volleyball team faced off In another hearty battle with the Hornets of Cal State Sacra¬ mento (15-10). The two teams had met once before at Fresno's Dan Gamel Invitational in early Septem¬ ber with the 'Dogs winning' the title ina grueling five-game match with the Hornets. The match-up Tuesday night was built up to be possibly another battle 'til the end, and an on¬ slaught of spikes coining too fast for anyone to even dream about stepping in front of. The Bulldogs (17-9, 6-5 in WAC) started their three- match week with an impres¬ sive and punishing victory in four games, 8-15,1541,15-13, 15-8. . \ Who was the destructive force that caused so much in¬ fliction on Hornet Gymna¬ sium? Lefs just say, the entire Bulldog team. In front of 360 fans, Fresno State was the grand conductor of a barrage of hits that the Hornets just could not handle. Leading the way for the T)ogs LTuesday night was senior 1 middle blocker Roseanne Brown who had a career-high 30-kHl night, and a hitting per¬ centage of .377. Brown's 30 kills was thamost by any Bull¬ dog since 1991. "One.tiling you don't see is middle blockers with 30 kills," said Head FSU coach Lindy Vivas. "Thefactthatw<ecoOld getherthKbaflthatmanytimes is incredible.'7 There is no way you can overtook the rest of the team's effort, considering there were four other Bulldogs who had double figures in kills: junior middle blocker Tera Booker (13), Sophomore outside hit¬ ter Trida Tuley (11), freshman outside hitter Diana Nalbandian (11), and sopho¬ more outside hitter Amy Cheli (10) ail contributed to the team'soverafl.219hittingper- centage. ' The other member of the 30-30 club (Brown with her 30 kills) on tine night was Tuley, who set a career-high mark with her 30 digs. Brown and Nalbandian added 19 and 18 digs, respectively.Justamrther factor in the Ttogs total team effort was that there were seven players with double Jfig- uresindigs. This led to setting a new school record of 121 digs in. a match, removing the previous mark of 115 set in 1988 against CalPoly San Luis Obispo. The Ttogs, coming off a sweep of UTEl* test .Friday night here at home, went into Sacramento to continue their prowl in the WAC. The Ttogfe began their repeat kind of slowly, falling down early in gaine one 12-2, but battled back to get within five of the Hornets. Sacramento was too much, though, and took game one from the Bulldogs. Gam^two saw ESU start strong with a 10-1 lead, pretty much handling the Hornets in this one, to hold onin the end 15-11. The toughest game of the night was game three in which no team had real con¬ trol of the game. Going back and forth, the Bulldogs came out in the end die victor. A match of longand exciting ral¬ lies ended after game four, which saw F$U pull away from the Hornets. ■ ' Wrestlers, from Page 6 it was becoming increasingly harder for him to maintain his weight at 126, and admits he has lost as much as eight-and-a- half pounds the day of a meet. Nick's^lder brother, DeWayne Zinkin, is currently wrestling in the 134-pound class, and has achieved WAC champion hon¬ ors in his weight. "I think once. DeWayne graduates at the end of this season, I'll be ready to move up in weight, but for now I'm staying in the 126-pound class," said Nick. The 'Dogs, according^) Nick, will have some tough matches this year. "First we have Or¬ egon State, then Nebraska. Both these teams are top-ranked teams in the country. If we can stay healthly and keep every¬ one on the mat this year, we could be one of the top 'six or seven teams in the country." Teammate Darin Preisendorf also thinks the team has a chance to get a top national ranking and said, "everyone has to work hard on the mat and in the weight room to have the mentality to win." And if anyone knows any¬ thing about toughness it would be Preisendorf. As a sophomore he backs up senior Demetrius Edwards at nose guard for the Fresno State football team and was the WAC champion as a heavyweight. Although he didn't wrestle in the intrasqaud sepmmage due to football prac¬ tice, he does work out.with the team every Monday and will join , the team full-time following the San Diego State football game. If you didn't get a chance to see the Ttogs in action Tuesday night, they'll be badk at home Dec. 3 and ready to tangle with top-ranked Oregon State. ' .7
