K. Timeout THE DAILY COLLEGIAN Tuesday, April 15,1997 By Paul McCauley The Daily Collegian Well I've been watching a liltle TV lately, okay maybe a little more than just a little, but still less than a whole lot. Anyway. I've noticed a new trend in movie ads. And I'm hoping I'm not the only one. In fact I'm hoping that someone out there in the great beyond can even ex¬ plain why this is so. Just recently at the end ofmost movie commercials, they've started listing the artists doing the soundtrack for the film. Nov. maybe it's just me. but this seems to be an absurd thing. Did I sleep through the era where music alone made the film? I can't count the number of times I've sat down, read the movie list¬ ing, just wishing I knew who was singing what songs, so I could pick a winner lo spend my money on. No. wail. I remember there was the episode of my life when I did de¬ cide to go see the first Power Rang¬ ers Movie because it had an origi¬ nal They Might Be Giants song. And let me lell you lhat was $4 well spent. I can only imagine what sort of trivial information they will slart showing next. How about a list of all the studios that rejected the script because it wasn't up to their high standards'.' Or maybe the sala¬ ries paid to the.stars to be in this soon to be classic of the .cinema' No wait, now I have it, they need to tell us the fast IixkI restaurant lhat will be featuring the cheap loss in their kids meals, so we won't have to spend the time ourselves.
