T OipnmtkDm! nVVrrtnfsdav.No>. 12. 1986. Reader Response IWhere's my permit? Dear Fditor, At the beginning of this semester. I paid for my tuition and parking sticker through the mail as the majority of students here at Fresno did. After nearly a month into the semester. I became suspicious as to why I had not received my parking sticker yet, so I decided to take action. I spoke to a cashier at the Joyal Building and explained to her that I had not received my parking sticker yet. She said, "The only thing you a could do is purchase, another parking sticker. Thc university is not responsible for parking stickers lost in the mail." The cashier was'referring to the blue form in the registration package. After learning that I could not get a refund or parking sticker, I became very upset. I feel this process with the parking sticker is unfair. I do not think the administration here at Fresno can put the responsibility on thepost office. I do not even know whether I was sent a STUDENT BASKETBALL TICKETS ON SALE NOW THRU THURSDAY-NOVEMBER 14, LIMIT — TWO SEASON TICKETS ' PER STUDENT $82 PER TICKET - INCLUDES 16 HOME GAMES APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE AT THE ATHLETIC TICKET OFFICE. ^\ . The cashier at Joyal Administration did not show me any evidence as to whether I was sent a parking sticker or not. After getting nowhere I went home and gathered my evidence together. I looked through my cancelled checks and there it was; $33.75 written to the Order of CSUF. I now knew they had cancelled thc check and received the funds. So where is my sticker? The two things'*! am positive about are: CSUFhasmy$33.75.and that I do not have the parking sticker that I paid for. So what are they doing with my money? I think it is very unfair that I could not even get my money back or even another sticker. But the most important part is when I went home and looked through my registration material and reread the blue parkingform. it said in small bold print the following: The university assumes no liability for lost decals. Great! But what the cashier said is that the university is not responsible for parking stickers (decals) lost in the mail (putting the responsibility on the post office). So I think it is a whole new ballgame. What kind of business are they running? I have already received one parking ticket because I could not park on campus even though I legitimately have a right to. This is a great inconvenience, and I have not given up hope because I plan to pursue it further. I strongly recom¬ mend that anyone planning to purchase a parking sticker next semester do so in person. To make my major point clear, I never had the parking sticker in my hand to Ipse it. The blue form states that the university is not responsible for stickers lost. Fine. But I never received the sticker and was presented no evidence to show whether the sticker was sent or not. John R Wiuow Anchor'didn't sink Editor* Note: Tamara Toller is not an active member of any sorority. Dear Editor This letter is in response to the gross misrepresentation of Delta Gamma Sorority's Anchor Splash by staff writer Tamara Toller. Ms. Toller's complete unprofessiorialism in reporting the event was shocking. In the first place, she completely downplayed the purpose of the event which was to raise money for the blind. She neglected to make note of the real talent and creativity that flourished throughout thc competi¬ tion. There were tasteful skits and clever talent depicted. Instead of reporting on this, she concentrated on attacking some comedy routines that are very simiiiar to ones performed by such greats as Robin Williams, Richard Pryor and George Carlin. I guess Ms. Toller doesn't get out much. She also makes mention of boisterous yelling of participants that a few Short weeks ago was completely acceptable and encouraged at our Homecoming Rally, but she didn't criticize that heavily Greek-supported event. / It is almost unbelievable that some- dfe could take such a just and worthy cause and butcher its whole intent by flagrant acts of yellow journalism. We must question Ms. Toller.'s fairness in reporting this event, as ?he is a member of another sorority that has no such event. In any case such reporting is in¬ tolerable. In the future Ms. Toller should stick to the facts and give an accurate portrayal of events instead of letting her envious nature and idio¬ syncrasies interfere with her reporting the truth. We trust this is within Ms. Toller's ability.
