Certainly ihe coach of such a learn would collect the most enviable record In history. To lose on one's home court Is committing basketball suicide, The truth ot Ihe matter is. the Bulldogs have been chased up the hanging tree only once In the last Ihree years by California Collegiate Ath¬ letic Association opponents, l-ong Beach Slate turned the irlek at the opening of CCAA action last year — ln a double overtime. Presno State had a clean CCAA slate at home- In I960 and In the current battle for Hit? conference flag, the Bulldogs trampled Los Angeles State 73-62, and burned Santa Barbara 67-56. It Is this enviable record on the home grounds that no doubt has coach Harry Miller's hopes "way up" for a stretch drive CCAA "crown snatching."' The tight pennanl race will be settled In the coming two weekends, and Presno State will be playing Long Beach. San Diego, San Fernando Valley and Cal Poly (SLOI all at home. The victory deflated the Santn Barbara club which had won nine of Its last ten games and tied the CCAA pennant race Into a three- way knot. Fresno, Long Beach and Santa Barbara all wound up the weekend with 6-2 records. Mike McFerson moved Into fifth place in the all-time CCAA scoring ladder by boosting his total to 478 points. McFerson tal¬ lied 22 Friday night white the Bulldogs were trouncing LA State 83-71, nnd added 16 more against the Gauchos.
