THE DAILY COLLEGIAN Tuesday, Sipasatasr 2, MM Stadium been criticized as being Inconvenient for CSUF's needs. The new facility was funded through the sale of Ratcliffe to the State Center Community College District, which is made up of FCC and Kings River' -Community College, in addition to pri¬ vate donations. CSUF will lease Ratcliffe until the new stadium is ready to use. Construction of the stadium began In- March 1978, and was set into motion by the CSUF President Norman Baxter, who wanted all the CSUF facilities on campus, according to Lynn Ellefson, administrative coordinator of the sta¬ dium development fund. Ellefson said the site of the stadium was designated as Just that, a stadium site, 25 years ago when the land on which the campus rests was purchased. • Eilfeson said 'several' private con¬ tributor! to the stadium fund chipped in more than S100,000 apiece, but said he would name only the largest contributor, which gave $727,000 Ellfeson said all of the 2,300 contri¬ butors are from the San Joaquin Valley. He said contributors buy 'seat options" which allow them to purchase a number of football season tickets during the next 10 years. The new stadium will pose a special problem for the planned Nov. 15 game.
