—The Fresno State College Collegian EDITORIAL COMMENTS They're Fighting History If the history of the last three years of the Blue Key charity drive has anything to do with its success, then the outlook is pretty poor for this year's campaign. Drive Chairman Norm Winslow denies this, though. He said the enthusiasm this year is running pretty high. "We should beat last year's donations of $600 fairly easily," he said. "We have that much pledged already, and we hi even counted the money collected at the Charity Ball Satur¬ day." - Last year's goal was $2,000, the same as this year's. The target for the 1956-57 campaign was $3,000, but only $1,052 was brought in during two semesters of collecting. The charity drive netted $1,157 of a $2,000 goal in 1955-56. "About 500 persons are soliciting funds for uV Winslow said, "This sure beats having the 20 or SO members In Key do it alone." The Blue Key members aren't goofing off, though. Men will station the student activities center outside the cafeteria every day this week from 9 AM to 3 PM to collect money. This is the only time of the year the students will be asked to donate money to charity. A large percentage of the cash goes to the United Givers Plan and the rest is spread among institutions not covered by UGP and to some FSC charities. "Charity begins at home," the old cliche says.
