PRESIDENTS MESSAGE On behalf of all members of the staff at Fresno State College, welcome to Summer Session. We hope that the session will be both personally pleasant and professionally profitable. Let me remind you that 1961-62 is our Golden Anniversary year. Fresno State was created by statute on April 10, 1911 The first class entered the institution that fall. Having] reached the midcentury mark with an enrollment of approx - mately 6.000 and a position of eminence among the institu¬ tions of higher education in the State, the College can take pride in its accomplishments. No special celebration is planned for the Summer Session. We hope, however, that all of you will share in comme tion of our Golden Anniversary during the next academ c year. You would look at me and possibly shake your head and say something like: "Just exactly how stupid do you think I am, Buster? I worked hard for this money. I should give it to you just out of the goodness of my heart?" And you'd be right Because that would be my reaction if somebody asked me the same question. Nobody, of course, is going to ask you to give away money at this summer session. But nevertheless, hundreds of sum¬ mer school students ARE going to give away two dollars — for no return whatsoever — and many of them probably won't even realize it. I'm referring, naturally, to your summer session student body activity card.
