Practice games were played throughout last week In the men's gym. While the pre-season affords players the opportunity to hone ball-handling and shooting skills, today's manager's meeting will be designed to smooth over any rough edges In rules and procedures. The meeting will be held In the men's gym balcony at 3:00 p.m. and all teams are required to have a representative In attend- Chlef among the new year's! Innovations Is the formation three six-team Power leagues. With the Inclusion of the Power playoff format will also changed. After champions determined in the Dormitory, Fraternity and Independent | leagues, the top two teams frori each league will enter the All- School playoff. Those- sU squads will be combined wlth| three of four teams from Power league to produce tb»| Alt-School champion. Instance, -In men's sports, Lambda Chi Alpha leads the fraternities with 250 points. In addition, they are thetopali- school leader. Trailing them with 240 points Is the Homan Tied for third In all-around are frat runnerup Sigma Alpha Epsllon and dorm leader Baker 11 with 210 points. Independent division leader BBB was far down the overall list with a point total of 150, with all of their total coming from their capturing the mens' IM football tlUe. The womens' sports are led by the powerful Jockettes. Powered by an IM football title an a successful volleyball squad, the Jockettes posted an all-around point total of 2S0, well ahead of dorm leader WDG with 230 points. Kappa Alpha Theta tops the sororities with 220 points, followed by Independentrunnerups GH and Kids with 210. Bad Asspen also has a total. Unfortun- itely, any questions you might have had- jefore entering the theater are likely o remain after leaving. they It would be easy to dismiss "Unknown Powers" as another cheappauedo-docu- metftary such as "In Search of Noah's Ark", but It Is much better produced than most documentaries. Lending credibility to the dozen or so "cases" presented are tbe films four narrators. Producer Don Como obviously knew what he was doing when he chose Samantha Eggar, Jack Palance, Will cfeer and Roscoe Lee Browne. Each has the stage presence and screen sincerity to make an audience want to' listen to rehashed material. In spite of the presence of these talented people, the aim seems flat and uninspired. Como (who also directed and co-wrote the film), takes a look at astrology, prophesy, telekinesis, deja- vu, reincarnation, mysticism, faith healing, etc. If that sounds like a lot to cover in to minutes. It Is. Como tries to cover too many subjects In too little time. In fact, "pyr»mld Power" was better explained In "Semi-Tough". A fascinating movie could have been made by taking four specific subjects end having each narrator " film essay on his or her subject.
