■The Fresno State College Collegiar How many times have you heard the appeal of the American Red Cross and other organization, over the radio during the past few month, to the effect that blood may save tf Uvea of our soldiers in Korea? Many veterans have told us of the feeling that came ov them when—wounded on the battlefield—they were admi istered a badly needed pint of blood. How life itself seems creep back into the weakened limbs of a fallen warrior cana be adequately described, but the fact remains that many wounded men would not have lived to enjoy life in a free nation had it not been for blood plasma. For only thirty minutes of a persons time he can give pi lessly a pint of his blood to the Red Cross or other all organizations and gain the warm feeling inside that for his 30 minute "ordeal," another will live possibly for 30 Last year blood drives, sponsored by various organizai were held on campus. The second drive, • held in the late spring, found Fresno State falling nearly 100 pints short of quota. Whether it was a mass indifference toward the worthy donations or many other factors that could have entered " the failure of the drive, we cannot say. But the fact remains that FSC students did not show their eagerness to help their country, themselves, and certainly many of their friends by donating a small amount of their time, and blood, to the drive. Many of us have friends and relatives in the service, and to most of the male students at Fresno State a period in the service is sure to come at some time. How would we feel if we knew that the students at Fret Stat; were adverse to helping their fellow countrymen, th fellow students, who are in.the employ of Uncle Sam present, when they needed help the most. We strongly urge some campus organization to take upon itself to foster such.a campaign at FSC again. We are sure it would be a success as the world is certainly n any closer total peace than it was last spring. Now is the time to show our willingness to play an important part in the city of Fresno and our country's efforts to help national defense. We should lead the way in bl donations for any single group in the San Joaquin Valley. How about it?
