The Collegian invites any and all criticism which may arise during the college year. It is only through a continued improvement that the staff hopes to maintain the aim of The Collegian. Advancement Towards Building Goal Marked by Expenditure The announcement today that more than $40,000 is to be spent for building improvements throughout the college and the stadium is gratifying to The Collegian in that it marks another step forward in the direction of an increased building program so much in need at Fresno State for the past decade. The greatest improvement is to be made at the stadium on Blackstone avenue with a renovation scheduled for the student union on the campus grounds. For years the lack of adequate seating capacity at the stadium has been a source of trouble for athletic officials. The present seating arrangement has proved to be unsatisfactory during both the football season and during the West Coast Relays. In the latter, one of the greatest track and field events on the Pacific Coast, the seating arrangement has hindered a major portion of the crowds from seeing the complete event during the meet. The raised angle at which the hew, modem seats are being installed will obviate this difficulty. Also, the replacement of the seats on the east side of the stadium by new and improved seats will aid the seating of students both in capacity and comfort during the coming season. It has been announced that approximately $4,000 will be spent upon the completion of the renovation of the student union. Wnile this marks a step forward in obtaining adequate space for a student body of approximately 2,000, it must still be remembered that even t with the new arrangement the union will seat only 125 persons and provide standing space 1 for hardly more than double that number. The college administration has been more than active during the past few years in an attempt to obtain sufficient funds from the state administration to build an administration baUding to hour* student offices and an adequate college student union. The efforts to date have met with little more than verbal encouragement. Dr. Frank W.
