They will play against the lowest remaining seed tomorrow night at 7 p.m... Defeated San Jose State, 52-48, in the tournament final last year and went on to the NCAA Tournament, where FSU fell in the first round to Northeastern... Senior Rod Higgins leads the Bulldogs with a 15-point-per game scoring average and also tops the team in rebounds (6.6 per game)...Higgins has scored in double figures 54 straight games...Guard Donald Mason averages 10.2 points per game while center Bernard Thompson averaged 9.3 a con-test...Other starters will likely be Tyrone Bradley at guard and Bobby Davis at the other forward spot...Also look for muscular Desi Barmore to see a lot of action, especially if the 'Dogs have to face Irvine... UC Irvine m Cal State Fullerton Picked by the media who cover the PCAA to win the conference championship this year, the explosive Anteaters instead had to settle for second place behind the Bulldogs...Coach Bill Mulligan's Anteaters finished at 10-4 in PCAA play and 21-5 overall... I r was the best record in UC Irvine basketball history as the previous best was 20-8 in 1968.. .Fresno State beat Irvine both at home and away, taking a 55-49 overtime victory in Long Beach and romping to a 71-58 win in Fresno... Irvine's other two losses were heartbreakers. He scored a career-high 31 points in a contest against Utah State earlier this year...Center Dino Gregory is another big gun. having scored at a 13-point-per-game clip in PCAA play...Gregory also averages 6.2 rebounds a contest...Other probably starters for Long Beach are Kevin Tye and Ray Mosby at the forward spots, and George McDaniel at the other guard position...The 49ers have beaten their first-round Opponents. San Jose State in both meetings but the games were barn burners...Long Beach topped the Spartans 47-45 in Long Beach and then posted a 57-56 overtime decision in San Jose. Ch. 30 to air PCAA For those of you Fresno State basketball fans who cant make it down to Anaheim for the PCAA Tournament, have no fear, for television and radio have come to the rescue. Fresno State's Thursday night game will be televised by KFSN-TV, Channel 30 in Fresno. Mark Barash will handle the play-by-play on the live broadcast telecast. KFSN will also televise Friday night's championship contest if the Bulldogs make that far. Thursday's game will sun at 7 p.m. and Friday's game would begin a 7:30 p.m. National sports cable network, ESPN, will also televise the championship game but on a delayed basis. The game or games will be broadcast live on KMJ radio (580 AM). Bill Woodward will be calling the play-by-play. Air time will be 6:40 p.m. on Thursday and 7:10 p.m. if the 'Dogs make it to the final. PCAA sold out at ticket office The Fresno State, ticket office closed out ticket sales for the PCAA post-season tournament yesterday and unsurprisingly, the Red Wave has struck again in mighty numbers. As of noon yesterday, the FSU ticket office had sold 2,800 tickets to the tourney, more than any other school in the conference. UC Irvine was a distant second. Although the PCAA tickets sales have ceased on campus, for those who may make last minute decisons to attend the event, tickets are still on sale at all Ticketron outlets and win be available the day of the game (or games) at the Anaheim Convention Center. The Bulldogs-ranked ninth in the nation by U PI -will first play at 7 p.m. Thursday. If they win that game; they will play for the championship »t 7 J6 p.m. Friday. Football coach, Hill leaves CSUF for Hawaii Offensive line coach Mike Hill will be leaving Fresno State to assume the offensive line coaching duties at the University of Hawaii, it was announced by FSU head coach Jim Sweeney. H ill, for the past five years the offensive line coach at FSU, will handle the centers and offensive guards for the Rainbows. "It. will be hard tosee Mike leave. He has been a tremendous asset to our program and hid done an outstanding job in rebuilding our offensive line.' said Sweeney> "As a player and coach over the past ten years. I have had the greatest admiration for him. 1 believe it is important for every young coach to broaden his professional horizons. I'm sure this opportunity will be a great experience for him. We wish him all the success in the world and are very proud of his contribution to Bulldog football." Hill, 30, will join the Rainbows immediately. Hawaii was9-2 this past fail under head coach Dick Tomey. Sweeney announced he was in the process of selecting Hill's replacement. Hill is a graduate of Washington State University. Fund raising begins for new athletic stadium CSUF will begin advertising for bids Friday. March 5. for the initial construction of a stadium athletic facility. The facility will include shower* and a locker room. The structure will be built south of the new football-soccer stadium. Bids will be opened at 2 p.m. Tuesday. March 30. in Room 203 of the Joyal Administration Building. Ch. 30 to air PCAA For those of you Fresno State basketball fans who cant make it down to Anaheim for the PCAA Tournament, have no fear, for television and radio have come to the rescue. Fresno State's Thursday night game will be televised by KFSN-TV, Channel 30 in Fresno. Mark Barash will handle the play-by-play on the live broadcast telecast. KFSN will also televise Friday night's championship contest if the Bulldogs make that far. Thursday's game will sun at 7 p.m. and Friday's game would begin a 7:30 p.m. National sports cable network, ESPN, will also televise the championship game but on a delayed basis. The game or games will be broadcast live on KMJ radio (580 AM). Bill Woodward will be calling the play-by-play. Air time will be 6:40 p.m. on Thursday and 7:10 p.m. if the 'Dogs make it to the final. PCAA sold out at ticket office The Fresno State, ticket office closed out ticket sales for the PCAA post-season tournament yesterday and unsurprisingly, the Red Wave has struck again in mighty numbers. As of noon yesterday, the FSU ticket office had sold 2,800 tickets to the tourney, more than any other school in the conference. UC Irvine was a distant second. Although the PCAA tickets sales have ceased on campus, for those who may make last minute decisons to attend the event, tickets are still on sale at all Ticketron outlets and win be available the day of the game (or games) at the Anaheim Convention Center. The Bulldogs-ranked ninth in the nation by U PI -will first play at 7 p.m. Thursday. If they win that game; they will play for the championship »t 7 J6 p.m. Friday. Football coach, Hill leaves CSUF for Hawaii Offensive line coach Mike Hill will be leaving Fresno State to assume the offensive line coaching duties at the University of Hawaii, it was announced by FSU head coach Jim Sweeney. H ill, for the past five years the offensive line coach at FSU, will handle the centers and offensive guards for the Rainbows. "It. will be hard tosee Mike leave. He has been a tremendous asset to our program and hid done an outstanding job in rebuilding our offensive line.' said Sweeney> "As a player and coach over the past ten years. I have had the greatest admiration for him. 1 believe it is important for every young coach to broaden his professional horizons. I'm sure this opportunity will be a great experience for him. We wish him all the success in the world and are very proud of his contribution to Bulldog football." Hill, 30, will join the Rainbows immediately. Hawaii was9-2 this past fail under head coach Dick Tomey. Sweeney announced he was in the process of selecting Hill's replacement. Hill is a graduate of Washington State University. Fund raising begins for new athletic stadium CSUF will begin advertising for bids Friday. March 5. for the initial construction of a stadium athletic facility. The facility will include shower* and a locker room. The structure will be built south of the new football-soccer stadium. Bids will be opened at 2 p.m. Tuesday. March 30. in Room 203 of the Joyal Administration Building.
