"All our losses were close games against good teams. We've been struggling and not coming up with the key plays we need to win. We were due for a win, and today was ihe day. Sutler's pleasure was dulled by the loss of the second game. "The first inning of mat game," she said, "That's how it's been for fifteen games. Gina LoPiccolo was the only Bulldog wilh two hits in the first game, but die one she really needed got away. LoPic¬ colo came to bat in the ninth with two out and two runners on. She connected and sent a long fly ball to center, but center fielder Cindy Oliver made a nice catch going backwards. Fresno State is now 34-5. They swept a doubleheader from San Jose State on Friday, by scores of 4-2 and 3-2. The Bulldogs play a doubleheader in UC Santa Barbara next Friday at 1:30 pjn. SWEEP Continued from page 6 match. Jandrea Ouwendijk faced Mar-Icnc Nakagawa of CSS. Both players were playing up a slot in the number one position. Ouwendijk's 6-1, 6-1 win was characterized by long rallies and exciting shots from both players. The Bulldogs dominated both doubles matches as well. Stukovsky and Eden . teamed for a 6-1 and 6-0 win against Ekenbark and Norman, and Kim Yohman and Katy McKenzie closed out the dual with a 64, 6-1 win over Nakagawa and Chevricr. Fresno State (10-12, 3-3 in the BWC) returns to action Friday, as the Anteaters of UC Irvine invade the Fresno State courts. On Friday the men lost 6-3 to Long Beach State who is ranked 20 in die nation. On Saturday they were swept by UC Irvine-who have won 13 of their last 14 matches.
