a gold-medal swimmer? Or put a
tennis racket In my hand at age
three so I could be the U.S. Open
winner right now?
He told me plain and simple.
"I Just wanted you to grow up
like a normal kid." he said.

As with many alheletea he finds
that the travel makes lt hard to do
well in school, but the redshlrt year
gave biro a year to prepare for what
lay ahead.
Chris has set himself the goal of
becoming the best goalie he can,
something he believes he will be able
to accomplish at FSU. but doesn't look
to Car ahead.
"I want - to become the beat
goalkeeper I can." he said, "something
I think I can accomplish with the
Fresno State program...! try to think
about one day at a Ume, that way I'm
not3urprised(ifIfail).-
Chris also says that FSU coach Jose
players have helped him adjust both
to the pressure of being a freshman
starter and being away from home.
"Jose is a perfectionist he strives to
push us as for as we can go... He takes
me under his arm and gives me
support (as he does with all of the
other players)," he said.
Chris adds that no matter how
horrible of a day he may have, and he
does have some, Jose is there to pick
him up and tell him that tommorow Is
a new day.
Chris hopes that he will be able to
play soccer after he graduates,
following in some of the footsteps of
former FSU players. .However, Chris
harbors no preference of where he
plays as long as he is playing soccer.
"Everybody says that you have a
major and a sport, " he said, "butln my
opinion soccer is my major along with
that (pre-med). Soccer is my life." -
