Geltz AEROSPACE STUDIES MINOR A minor in aerospace studies consists of satisfactory completion of the AFROTC program ( 19 units). Open to men ~nrl wnmPn. AIR FORCE RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS PROGRAM Thi four-s mester program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop professional, academic, <~ n d leadership attribute essential to their progressive advancement to positions of responsibility as officers in the United States Air Force. Successful completion of the program leads to a reserve commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduatiQn. Students enrolled in AFROTC receive $100 a month nontaxable financial assi lance during the two-year program. In addition. Air Force scholarships are available which cover full tui tion, allowan e for books, laboratory fees, and m tdental f es. All AFR TC payments and other benefits are in addition to those a veteran is entitled to under the Gl Bill, other laws, or cholarships. A 25-hoi,Jr fl ight ins truction program is offered to pilot candidates ill government expense. Applic Lions should be submitted to the Professor of Aerospace tudies during the sophomore year or th fa ll s('m ter preceding antic;ipated enrollment in AFROTC. Student with prior military service should consult the Professor of Aerospace Studies for applicable entrance requirements. Students with any academic major may apply for admission to AFROTC. To be eligible a student must ( 1) Be a itizen of the United Stales and not less than 17 years of ag . (2) Be physically, mentally, and morally qualified in accordanc with standards established by the Department of the Air Force and have a minimum of four semester , either undergraduate or grad\late, remaining to be compl ted at Californ ia State University, Fresno. (3) Su ce sfully complete the Air Force Oflicer Qualifying Test. and SAT /ACT examinations. (4) Successfully complete the Air Force physical examination. (5) Be not more than 26'/, years of age, if programmed for flying training; or 30 years of age, if programm d for other than flying training, at date of graduation and commissioning. ( 6) Be approved lor AFROTC training by the Professor of Aerospace Studies and the President of the University. COURSES AEROSPACE STUDIES (A Sp) 14. General Aviation: Private Pilot (3) F•mdamentals of fl ight and aerodynamics, aircraft controls and maneuvers, powerplants and y t ms, flight instruments, aircraft performance, Airman's Inform tion Manual, !light comput r, meteorc logy, flight planning, navigation, F deral Avia tion Regulations, and radio communications. Prepares student for FAA private pilot wrillen xamination. 25. Air Force ROTC Field Training (3) For all nonprio r-s rvice appli ants. Taken during summer pre eding entry 1nto AFROT . Six-week field training to acquaint student with Air Force life; basic military skill ; Air Force w apons and upport systems; and discipline essential to military nvironment. The Air Force provides meals, housing, $524 pay, and travel pay to and from designated Atr Force ba e.
