No later than the beginning of the second week of classes of the semester. in which the student expects to graduate with college honors, and preferably well in advance of this time, he must submit to the Honors Program Committee chairman a written prospectus of not more than one hundred words describing the honors paper or project which he intends to submit to fulfill this requirement. The student should not choose a topic which focuses primarily within his major field. Completed papers must be in the hands of the Honors Program Committee chairman by November 20 if the student expects to graduate in mid-ye:lr, and by April 1 if he expects to graduate in June. The departmental bonors program provides specialization beyond the normal undergraduate requirements in a major field. MOSS LANDING MARINE LABORATORIES The California State Colleges will begin operation of the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, Moss Landing, California, in the fall semester 1966. This facility will function as a seaside extension of the campuses of five cooperating state colleges (Fresno, Hayward, Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Jose) and will offer fulltime course work in marine biology, oceanography, and other marine sciences. The curriculum has been designed to fulfill major requirements for qualified students. Such students can plan their academic schedules to provide for one or more terms at the Mtlss Landing Marine Laboratories. Because of limited enrollment, interested smdenrs should make early application . Consult the chairman of the Biology Department for details. INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS The California State Colleges offer academic year programs of srudy at a number of distinguished universities abroad. ln 1965--66 the cooperating universities were: University of Aix-Marscillc, Fran c; Free University of Berlin and University of Heidelberg, Germany; Vvaseda University, T o kyo, Japan; University of Granada and University of Madrid, Spain; Uni\•crsiry of Stockholm and University of Uppsaln, wcden; N~tional University, Taiwan. A program is being o ffered for the first time during 1966-67 at the University of Florence, Italy. Academic work successfully completed at the cooperating universities abroad may be applied toward the degree requirements of the college in accordance with college regula-tions. A selection among applicants from all California State Colleges is made on the basis of academic, linguistic, and personal qualifications. The criteria are: (a) Upper division or graduate standing by the beginning of the academic year abroad; (b) Academic achievement; (c) Proficiency in the language of instruction; (d) Faculty recommendations. Cost to the student includes round trip transportation from San Francisco to the host university, room and board for the academic year, and medical insurance. 2- 66235
