"TOVARICH" An eight-night run, including one British War Relief benefit, of Jacques Duval's comedy, "Tovarich," ushered in the Fresno State fall drama season. The gay French play was a "sell-out" and netted over $200 for the British. This farce, depicting a former general of Cossack cavalry and his wife, a Grand Duchess, making a gay go of rags and starvation while exiled in France, added a note of pathos to the expected comedy. Wesley Craven as Prince Mikail Alexandrovich Ouratieff and Nina Graybill as his wife, the Grand Duchess Tatiana Petrovna, supplied the backbone of the play in the two leading roles. Produced and staged under the direction of Joseph King and Charles Taylor, respectively, the cast of fifteen turned in able performances. Participants in the play included Doris Rankin, Robert Winzler, Norman Katen, William Wilburn, Elaine Ray, Arleigh McConnell, Elizabeth Rice, Alva Gregory, Ila Johnson, Wendell Smith, Bonnie Felix, Evelyn Brase, and Mason Corner. 92
