&AAociatQcL (xJjDjnjut, SiudjwJtA, A full calendar managed to keep the members of the Associated Women Students busy this year, with balls, conventions, teas, and the regular Wednesday luncheon club meeting. On November 30, the Freshman Luncheon Club gave the Queen's Tea, at which the fifth Queen of Fresno State was chosen. Several prominent Fresnans acted as judges for the affair, at which Barbara Whitmore was chosen queen. December 2 was the evening of the Queen's Ball, marking the most important single social event in the list of activities for the women. The Ball was held at the Rainbow Ballroom, with Miss Whitmore reigning as queen and Earl Smittcamp as Master of Ceremonies. Patricia Murphy and Irma Mae Hinsberger, president and vice president of the A. W. S., and Margaret Tylor and Paula Park, president and vice president of W. A. A. were the officers in charge of the A. W. S.-W. A. A. convention on March 17 and 18, when Fresno State entertained over 100 California college women at the eleventh annual convention. Past presidents of the A. W. S. were honored on May 12, and installation ceremonies were held May 31 at a swimming party. During the absence of Miss Mary Baker, Miss Kathryn Daly was Acting Dean of Women. 38
